Today the DC Council heard more testimony on the pending same-sex marriage equality bill. DC Councilman David Catania was very effective at smacking down the high-profile bigots who showed up. NOM’s Executive Director Brian Brown was torn apart by DC Coucilmember David Catania over Brown’s hiding of bigoted donors who gave over $5,000. The evasive Brian Brown was visibly upset and was caught off guard by it. He would rather run out the chamber than give up the Mormon names backing him. The video of this must be remixed.
Other fucking morons who showed up to testify against gay marriage in DC was some insane old bag lady who only identified herself as “Dr. Jacobs” (real name Dr. Ruth Jacobs) and Reverend Anthony Evans. This Dr. Ruth Jacobs chick (who claimed to be both an infectious disease specialist and anal sex expert) gave a hate-filled testimony based on HIV/AIDS and kept repeating words like “penis”, “anal sex”, and “anus” in an unsuccessful attempt to make people uncomfortable. It didn’t work. We are all adults and have no shame or embarrassment when it comes to sex. David Catania should have asked the Maryland woman if she was speaking from experience. David Catania did hammer her on her bizarre statements on HIV/AIDS and sex ed. The high-pitched milquetoast Reverend Anthony Evans had the audacity to thank the crazed “Dr. Jacobs” for medical implications of same-sex marriage.
One last bigot of note is Marshall R. Phillips, Sr. ANC commissioner and minister at Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church (ironically closeted gay men make up at least 30% of this church). Marshall R. Phillips, Sr. was just plain stupid. I would call Marshall R. Phillips, Sr. a fucking moron but that would be too kind. NGblog has the video of the testimonies today.
There is also video of a gay man proposing to his fiance. At least something good came after all the hate-filled testimonies from suburban carpetbaggers.
