Las Vegas – Kyocera’s first Android-based smartphone, the Zio M6000, will be among the first smartphones offered by prepaid carrier Leap Wireless, which plans to launch Zio sometime this year, the carrier told TWICE.The Zio M6000″The Zio M6000″ The phone will operate in 3G CDMA 1x EV-DO Rev. A mode in Leap’s Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) 1.7/2.1GHz bands as well as in 3G mode in the 800/1900MHz bands. Kyocera previously said the phone operated in 3G mode only in the 800/1900MHz bands. Because of the phone’s additional bands, Kyocera will be able to target the phone to more carriers than previously thought. Potential 800/1900MHz carriers include Verizon Wireless and Sprint, and potential AWS-band carriers include MetroPCS.
