New Home Sales Data Offers Ray of Hope – washingtonpost.com:
Sales of new homes surged in April, but builders had to borrow a page from the retail sector and slash prices in an effort to shake the effects of a lingering downturn in the real estate market. New federal government data show that new homes sales in April increased 16.2 percent over the month before, to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 981,000. That is the largest single month increase in more than a dozen years.
